MIJARC ASIAN COORDINETORS IN THE WORLD COORDINATION ON THE 26/09/06
WTO Seminar and Public Campaign in India

A continental seminar on WTO was organised by Mijarc Asia in Hyderabad, India from 7-11th of November 2005. 45 people from India , Sri Lanka and Nepal participated in this event. There were delegates from YCW,YCS, ICUF also. The Seminar emphasised to give a clear cut analysis about WTO policies and how it effects agriculture and rural life of the people. There as an analysis about the south Asian agricultural situation also. The field trip to the Agricultural research institute in Hyderabad and the discussion with Scientists was quite informative. After the seminar the whole delegation was travelled to the Capital city of Kerala for the Public symposium and Campaign.
The public symposium was organised at animation centre in Trivandrum on 13th Nov. The members of Parliamentarians from ruling and opposition parties were present in the panel. George presented the position of MIJARC towards WTO ministerial at Hong Kong .PP James moderate the session. All the panellists well appreciated our initiatives, especially our position paper to mobilise the public and govt on WTO matters since there is not many are engaged in this campaign. George handed over the memorandum to MP’s to discuss it with Indian Govt
On behalf of Mijarc Asia , Mijarc Kerala organised a massive public manifestation on 13th Nov at 2PM in Kattakkada, Trivandrum. 8 to10 thousand young people marched in the rally .There was a public meeting after the manifestation to declare our position towards the WTO ministerial to the public and govt. Youth commission Chairman of the catholic bishop conference Rt.Rev.Dr.Vincent Samuel, Transport minister Mr.D.Shakthan, Dr.Sebastian paul MP,G.Karthikeyan MLA, Kerala bishops conference youth commission member Rt .rev .Dr.Ignathiause etc were present for the meeting. George presided the meeting. We handed over our memorandum to the govt. authorities. Congratulation to Andhra MIJARC to host the seminar and MIJARC Kerala for organising Public symposium, Manifestation and public meeting also congratulations to MIJARC Asian team to coordinate all the programmes
